George worked for Yates American Machine Co. from +1915-1927+, as a wood pattern maker, as was his son William (+1917-1920+). The company's beginnings were in 1878 with the patent of the "Boss Wood Polisher", then renamed "Berlin Machine Works" in 1883 which is traditionally its founding date, and when P.B. Yates purchased the business, perhaps in Rochester. By 1908, it added a factory with 1,000 employees in [[Ontario#Hamilton|Hamilton]], ON, and in 1918 [[Wisconsin#Beloit|Beloit]], WI. In 1925, Yates acquired "American Wood Working Machinery". In 1933, their machinery was capable of producing 100,000 board feet of dimensional lumber per shift. In 1939, it was listed in the top three largest woodworking manufacturers in the world. George resided 1881-1901 @ Petrolia, Lambton, ON, then in Rochester at 961 Lyell Ave. (+1927-1929+), 93 Warner St. (1915, +1931-1932+) & 441 Selye Terr. (1917-1920 & 1933+). He and his family was Methodist in 1891, but he alone was PB by 1901.
