Barnard family
The meeting at St. Joseph met from +1878-1880 at the home of John Fiske Barnard, at the northeast corner of Edmond & 15th Sts., likely connected with the eventual assembly at KCMO, being only thirty miles away.
One of John's brothers was in fellowship with the exclusive Sherbrooke Meeting Room in Quebec in 1851, which likely played a role in John's own intro to the PB, although he was Episcopalian that year thru 1861. He moved to St. Joseph in 1870, accepting a position as chief engineer of the Grand Island, remaining in that city until 1888, and returning from 1899-19071905.
As stated in the intro to the KC Meeting Room, he was serving as the general superintendent of the (now defunct) Kansas City, St. Joseph & Council Bluffs railroad in 1875 when John Nelson Darby was on his final trip to North America, and in July of 1875, accompanied him to Council Bluffs and San Francisco. He served in executive roles with various railways companies until his retirement in 1899, see his bio for more detail on this, as well as more family history.
