George was born in Caithness, Scotland and married in 1877 in Lambdon to Margaret Leitch Johnson who was born in Hamilton. Margaret was born in Forest, but her parents Hugh Johnson (1819-1911) and Flora Patterson Hamilton (1821-1907) were from Scotland.
George and Margaret raised five children: [[Flora P.N. Munro Hawthorne]] (1879-), James John Alexander Munro (1882-1942), Dr. [[Hugh Johnson Munro]] (1884-1962), [[Augusta Victoria Munro Vance]] (1887-1988), and [[Donnellda Donalda Caroline Munro]] (1888-1966).
They raised their children as Brethren. Their son Hugh was later an elder at an assembly in Winnipeg, MB.
